He's Not Like Us

by: DocJess

Thu Jul 12, 2012 at 08:58:54 AM EDT

The Republican march towards voter suppression continues, with the Texas case currently in court, and the Pennsylvania case slated for 25 July. Yesterday, after "packing" the NAACP audience with a dozen black Republicans who do not belong to the NAACP, Mittens was still booed for his disrespect to our president and his disdain for the ACA. Not to mention the GOP House voted for the 33rd time to repeal ACA...heaven forbid they should do some actual work, but I digress.

If you have any questions about how Mitt and his minions are looking at a completely different America than the rest of us, here you go...

By the way, look forward to Nebraska on Saturday. If the Paulites prevail at the state convention, Tampa will be incredibly rough for the RNC. Unless, of course, they suppress the Nebraska vote like they did the Massachusetts vote where they found a way to exclude the Paul delegates from the state delegation.

Please remember to politic someone today. And EVERY day. This is an important election for those of us who will be allowed to vote this year.

Gen X (0.00 / 0)
Say anything you want about Romney, but please don't tell me what I'm like.

Do you know how Gen X got its name? It's because we're the generation that doesn't like to be labeled, categorized, and told who we are and what we think.

If you want to turn off a lot of Gen Xers to Obama, show them this. And yes, that attitude is why Gen Xers are less politically active, on average, than either Boomers or Millennials--they make up no one's base. But we still vote, sometimes, and if anyone wants our vote, then never, ever tell us what we're like or who we are.

(And yes, I get the irony of using broad generalizations about Gen X in this critique! Cue the Gen Xers commenting that what I've said doesn't apply to them, and how much they like the post!)

Really, Scott? (0.00 / 0)
Do you have a yacht, a car elevator, 7 mansions, ownership of someone else's mortgage, off-shore bank accounts, $110 million in an IRA? Really?

This is NOT generational, and it's not generalized -- these are things he HAS as compared to what the rest of us have.

so by all means then, vote for Romney because (0.00 / 0)
someone told you not to, the characteristics you described are those of a five year old, not a generation, and the fact that so many post boomers think there is no difference between the Parties, and claim independence, is why they have been so masterfully manipulated by the Republicans, and have voted to diminish their independence thinking they were declaring it.

Gen X (0.00 / 0)
Okay, I'm Gen X, born in 1970. Voting strongly for Obama and I don't care who labels me what. Also, love the post!

A Labeling in itself ;o) (0.00 / 0)

Sorry Scott, just had to rag on you for that one. LOL

All in good fun.......

Delegate Selection (0.00 / 0)

Nebraska is not the same as Massachusetts.

In Massachusetts, Romney won the delegates in the primary, and (due to the weak Republican rules) the Ron Paul campaign tried to take some fo those delegates away in the selection process.  While some of the efforts to strengthen the pledge provisions in the rules went beyond the scope previously authorized, Ron Paul was not entitled to those delegates.

In Nebraska, nobody has yet won any delegates.  While there will certainly be some attempts by the party leadership to push a pro-Romney delegation at the state convention, the state convention is free to pick a pro-Paul delegation under the state rules.  As such, any attempt to take those delegate slots back after the convention would be an actual violation of the rules rather than the bending of the rules that took place in Massachusetts.
